There is no single theory below which is deemed the absolute truth, as none can be proved correct or incorrect. There are possibly thousands of theories about how life was brought about, here are a few of them: -
1. THE POOL OF GOO THEORY:
The pool of goo followed the big bang
explosion. Once the gases and particles swirling in the midst’s
of the universe had ignited and the universe looked more of how
it is today: several billion stars, a load of planets, solar
systems and black holes, the earth was left to its own devises.
Luckily the elements that the earth had ended up with were those
needed to sustain life, and resembled that of a pool of goo. As
time progressed microscopic organisms evolved, such as the humble
amoeba, these mutated and evolved further until after a long
while the homo sapien was born. Obviously this is a very simple
interpretation of the pool of goo theory, any comments/information

2. THE BELIEF IN GOD
This theory was most
likely brought about as soon as man had evolved a large enough
brain to comprehend fearful events brought about by the unknown (eg
lightening, thunder, earthquakes etc); man could not explain them.
God developed as humans progressed and sought explanations for
more complex phenomena; God was basically the default explanation
for things that were not understood. God was slowly given more
and more roles, until the worshiping of it was made into a way of
life, now known as religion. The belief in God still exists today,
but in many different styles, suited to your desired level of
commitment, there is probably as God to suit most believers.

3. ALIEN
INTERVENTION IN EVOLUTION
This theory suggests
that humans are the product of alien intervention. The universe
is made up of millions of planets, and so it is most likely that
more than one of them supports some form of life. Aliens from one
of these other planets developed technology to travel through the
universe and found earth. Earth which clearly showed early
primitive forms of life i.e. the apes (which humans were thought
to have evolved from bar one missing link). For some reason (known
only to the aliens) they decided to help evolution/experiment
with us by interbreeding with the apes. Aliens then left the
earth and allowed evolution to takes its course. Thousands of
years later the aliens returned to observe their ‘experiment’.
Humans had evolved higher brains and had developed language and
civilisation. Many people who believe this theory use it to
explain the creation of the pyramids, the plagues of Egypt and
other unexplained phenomena. People still claim to have seen UFO’s
of have been part of an alien abduction, maybe they are still
checking up on their handy work.

4. THE
‘VAGUELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE MATRIX’ THEORY
If you have seen the
matrix you will probably know about this theory. It basically
states that we are all living in a dream world which does not
really exist, and when we wake up from this dream world, we die.
Whatever is outside the dream is unkown, but it is thought that
no one really does exist and therefore was never created in the
first place.
